Miamisburg student to compete at gymnastic nationals competition
Luke Ross will compete at the event May, 13, 2021 in Dayton Beach, Florida

MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WKEF) - A student from Dayton Christian Schools is heading to the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic National Championships. Luke Ross will compete at the event May, 13, 2021 in Daytona Beach, Florida. He qualified after placing 16th at the regional event in Battle Creek, Michigan.

This will be the second time Ross has competed in the national championships. Ross will join three other gymnasts from his home gym, The Gymnastics Training Center of Ohio at the event.

Ross faces additional challenges in competition, he is diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome, ADHD and anxiety.  He shared that the discipline of competition has helped, "I have practice year-round, including times when other students are on school breaks. Since I know gymnastics requires a big commitment, I am forced to be more organized than I normally would be in school, church, and free time.”

The 8th grade student is already making plans for college, "One of my goals is to make it to one of the 13 universities in the country that offers men’s gymnastics. It is difficult, but I believe I can do it.”
